Lets Talk Proper Dosing! So much Information!! Come and Get it!
When we talk dosing we are talking about how much THC do you need to have a better quality of life? For myself, it's about 200-300 mg a day which sounds like a lot until you realize that you control what that looks like by the way that your consume it. You can create this many times over with just a simple eighth of Cannabis and something to infuse it with. And most importantly; you do not have to start this high! The strain that I mention (Purple Runtz, yes we will be using other strains) Is easy to find and using our base calculations of an eighth of an ounce to every half a cup of product your doses will begin at about 60 mg of THC per tablespoon, which you can dose down by the teaspoon any way you would like. When doing large scale orders with my machine, I normally go to the manufactures site for the Dosing Calculator to ensure I know exactly what strength of product I am creating before I even get started.
Some days 300 mg is a few blunts, others it's a peanut butter cookie or mug of tea. This is why we use versatile fats in the base recipes, to give you the freedom of versatility within your own home. Nothing is more empowering than having the freedom to choose how you dose and keep them folks out yo business boo. As the one that carries the title of family pot head, let's remove the stress this Thanksgiving by allowing the edible to hit during the family prayer instead of having to come back to judgment after that cousins "walk". While this has never been my actual experience because even as adults they still held the fear of the most up high in all of us, I've been told this is how it normally goes for other families. Chime in and give me your experiences. Living in a legal state I normally blow a few before I cook. Takes the stress out of putting people out of my kitchen all day. I know I got a couple of people that can feel me on that!
So let's begin. For the purpose of learning we will use the same system with all recipes so that you can easily determine what strength works for you. Our base measurement begins with the Purple Runtz Strain. Feel free to explore the site and type in the different names of strains you have tried. It may explain how they have hit for you in the past and also help you buy better in the future. Now if you are a newbie I advise you do your research before purchasing. Ask the Plug what they have. Most at least know that. Then look them up to make sure you choose the one with the lowest amount of THC to make your edibles. The last thing you want is to make something too strong and have yourself tripping and in the Emergency room. Sending out messages to your kids like its the end of life as we know it.
Now mixing the 1/8 of cannabis to 1/2 cup of whatever fat you are infusing will give you an Acute Dose. If you decide to cut it down any lower there is a chart available on the site as well to give information on the different dosing amounts and how to classify them. The amount of THC in each dose is strongly dependent upon the strain you choose. For most of our recipes I have used the Purple Runtz strain as it has 14% THC and equal CBD. Within my area this is an affordable strain that is easy to get in large quantities. This may differ in other states so make sure you talk to your plug. You'd be surprised the wealth of knowledge they carry and the deals they cut for regular customers. I suffer with anxiety and depression so it's important that I have a flower that is balanced. When I am creating a tincture or glycerin based (recipes coming soon!!) product I go for something with a higher level of THC such as Blueberry OG Kush which has a THC percentage of about 27%. Very big difference between the two strains so make sure you do your research.
My motto is if I can't smoke it I can't cook with it and if it puts me on my ass, I'm only making a little bit!!!!! When I want information on a strain I go to Leafly. The wonderful thing about this blog is you can use the same measurements for CBD, for those of you that do not live in a legal state or just don't care to partake in THC but want the healing and relaxing remedies that come from this amazing flower.
